Science Castle Singapore 2025 Exhibit Two Innovative Research Titles by UPHSI STEM Students

Two teams from the University of the Philippines High School in Iloilo (UPHSI) STEM strand showcased their research ideas last April 12, 2025 at the Science Castle Singapore held in The Marquee, Science Centre in Singapore.

Students Renz Nathaniel Asis, John Rowel Chavez, Churney Maurice Dollolasa, and Shaira Daine Villuga, also known as Team MuntingSilicons had the chance to present their paper entitled “In Silico Screening of Selected Aratiles (Muntingia calabura L.) Flavonoids as Potential Anti-Angiogenic Agents”, while students Unicka Pearl Jose, Kerubim Iana Pauline Senobin, and Llya Nyssa Mikkailah Sulit, known as Team Hydrofabs, presented their paper entitled “Development and Analysis of Chitin-Integrated Treated Cotton Fabrics”. These students were part of the 260 bright minds that entered the competition.

This year’s Science Castle Singapore leaves a mark throughout the young scientists as it brands its official return from a five-year hiatus since 2020. The event hosted five countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Japan, and the United Kingdom.

Nineteen Grade 12-STEM students from UP High School in Iloilo (UPHSI) were among the select groups chosen to present their research as Global Guests in the poster presentation category of Science Castle Osaka Kansai 2024, held on December 21, 2024 at Yamato University in Suita, Osaka, Japan.
